Bnei Yisrael Society wishes all who observe a very Happy Shavuot, Chag Shavuot Sameach! Shavuot, also called the Festival of Weeks, is the second of the Shalosh Regalim (Three Pilgrimage Festivals) celebrated annually to commemorate The Almighty‘s giving of the Torah (Mattan Torah) to the Nation of Yisrael at Mount Sinai, seven weeks of our Exodus from Egypt. Shavuot is also known as Yom HaBikkurim, Day of First Fruits, marking the beginning of the fruit harvest in the Land of Yisrael. The holiday is celebrated on the 6th of Sivan on the Hebrew calendar. In 2020 on the Gregorian calendar, Shavuot begins at sundown Thursday, May 28, 2020 and ends at nightfall Friday, May 29, 2020, in the Land of Yisrael, and nightfall Saturday, May 30, 2020, in the Diaspora.
