Shalom, everyone! The following is a lecture by Dr. Elysha Netsarh of the Bnei Yisrael community of Madagascar given on December 5, 2016 at the Jewish Museum of Florida at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. Dr. Netsarh is a leader of the Bnei Yisrael community in Madagascar. In this lecture, Dr. Netsarh discusses her and community’s spiritual journey to Judaism, and the current efforts underway, with help from Kulanu Inc, to create a sustainable and thriving community in Madagascar. We prefer to say that the community in Madagascar has returned to its Bnei Yisrael roots since through their oral traditions they state that they are the descendants of the tribe of Issachar shipwrecked on the island hundreds of years ago. The lecture includes the film “Lost/Found – The Jews of Madagascar.” Dr. Netsarh‘s presentation is truly captivating.
