Shalom, everyone! Psalm 121 is a shir hama’alot (song of ascents), recited by pilgrims traveling on the road up to Jerusalem. This psalm, however, states that it is a shir lama’alot (a song to the ascents).
Psalm 121 is a prayer of confidence in The Almighty’s help and protection day and night. Psalm 121 is read daily during Ma’ariv (evening) prayer services, and on Shabbat and yom tov during Shacharit (morning) prayer services.
